Asked Questions About Anne Bancroft
Here is a

about this website. If you

someone who can.
When
Anne married Mel, did she convert?
Anne was raised Catholic by
her parents, and contrary to anything you may hear otherwise, she did not
convert to Judaism after marrying Mel Brooks. (My source on this is
unimpeachable: her family!)
Was Anne nude in The
Graduate?
According to my best sources, it had always been my understanding that she
had a body double for the extremely brief nude shots. My beliefs about
this were confirmed when I saw side-by-side photos someone posted on the
internet of Anne's tan lines in that scene and the tan lines of her double
-- they are very different. Their skin tones don't even match. I suppose that constitutes proof, no?
I finally got a chance to see Anne's interview with Charlie Rose, and she
talked about this. She said that when she took the part, she had fully
intended to do the nude scene herself. But when the time came, she said
she just could not bring herself to do it. Mike Nichols was furious. So
they were forced to bring in a double. Thus, once and for all, it has been
confirmed by Anne herself!
Is that Anne singing in Don't
Bother to Knock?
For her first Hollywood movie, Don't Bother to Knock, Anne was cast as a singer. However, it was felt that her voice was weak in the upper registers, so she had to lip-synch to the dulcet tones of Eve Marley.
If you are still waiting to hear Anne sing ballads, I'll be posting
samples from her variety shows at the Experience
page very soon, and I guarantee that you'll be knocked out by her
incredible vocal talent. Eve who??
How many children does Anne
have?
Anne's son with Mel
Brooks, Max, was born in May 1972. I've got a special nook for him here
so you can read more about him.
That's Anne's leg on The
Graduate poster, right?
The leg on the poster
for The Graduate actually belongs to model Linda Grey, who later went
on to star in the TV show "Dallas."
Was Anne in the movie The
Bell Jar?
My original knee-jerk answer
to this question was "absolutely not!", but I did a great deal
of research to ensure that she wasn't perhaps originally cast, or had done
some work on the film before pulling out, etc. As far as I can ascertain,
her name got confused with Anne Jackson's (who is in the
film), and somewhere along the line, the confusion stuck. So I believe my
original answer is correct.
When is Delgo coming
out? First it was supposed to come out in 2005, now it's 2006... has it
been shelved?
As far as I can tell, it is in
post-production. Check out their website here
for further developments.
About
the site: why did you launch it before you had all of the areas completed?
Because life is short... why
wait? If I waited until the site's "finished," it would never
get launched at all, because a good site is never truly
"finished." This site needs to be up now, not ten
years from now. I feel that I have enough posted in the various areas so
you can see where I'm going with this, and it's my hope that you'll be
intrigued enough to bookmark it and come back for a visit and see all the
new stuff next time!
